š± Getting Started with Wealthy Affiliate: What I Did in My First Week (And What You Should Actually Focus On)
So, youāve signed up for Wealthy Affiliateānow what?
First of all, welcome! Whether youāre here out of curiosity, ambition, burnout, or just straight-up rebellion against the 9-to-5 blueprint, Iām so glad you made it. The first week can feel like walking into a giant online library with no map, especially if youāre a multi-passionate brown girl with way too many tabs openāmentally and literally.
Let me walk you through how I got started, what helped me stay focused, and what you actually need to do (no fluff, no panic).
š» Day One: Start With This Training (Not Everything All At Once)
As soon as you log in, Wealthy Affiliate will show you the āOnline Entrepreneur Certificationā course.
Start there. Donāt skip. Donāt overthink.
Even if you already have blog ideas or a Canva moodboard saved on your phone, the training will help you structure it all in a way thatās sustainable and monetizable. Module 1 will walk you through choosing a niche, setting up your first site, and understanding how affiliate links actually work.
This is not about becoming an expert overnightāitās about planting your seed and showing up for it every day.
⨠How to Find a Niche That Feels Like You
This part? It had me spiraling.
Do I write about skincare or South Asian mental health? Chai memes or burnout recovery? Self-love or self-discipline? The pressure to āpick oneā can feel paralyzingāespecially when youāre multi-passionate.
Hereās what helped me:
Instead of narrowing it down too soon, I picked a niche that felt like a version of me.
For example: āSouth Asian Gen Z wellnessā is broad enough to explore mental health, journaling, identity, skincare, and moreābut still focused enough to build trust.
Ask yourself:
- What do I already talk about with friends or post about on stories?
- What would I write about for free because I care that much?
- What problems have I solved in my own life that others might relate to?
Your niche should feel like home, not a job interview.
š§ First Week Wins: Focus on Progress, Not Perfection
Hereās what I actually did in my first 7 days:
- Completed the first 3 training lessons
- Sketched out 3 blog topics I felt excited about
- Bought a domain (but didnāt rush to design it perfectly)
- Set a tiny goal: 1 blog post a week, no pressure
What I didnāt do:
- Try to learn everything in one night
- Worry about what my site looked like (itāll evolve!)
- Compare my journey to anyone elseās
This first week is about planting roots, not blooming all at once.
šŖ“ Your Affiliate Journey, Your Pace
Thereās no ārightā way to start this, and anyone who says otherwise probably isnāt your audience. Youāre allowed to be slow, scrappy, scared, or still figuring things out. Just donāt let that stop you from starting.
Youāve already done the hardest partāsaying yes to yourself.
Welcome to the Boss Beti chapter of your story. Letās grow.
